Description John Saunders 2002-03-24 04:45:37 UTC
The online telephone bill from my carrier gets tagged as SPAM. Could the "from"
address be added to a global whitelist? The company is a reputable one and not
likely to send SPAM, at least not using this particular "from" address.

Not a bug. We simply can't expect to be perfect.
Comment 2 Craig Hughes 2002-03-25 15:43:43 UTC
Just to add a comment here: You can add anything you want to your *own*
whitelists: see the config file documentation for details.
Comment 3 John Core 2002-03-26 15:57:22 UTC
Subject: Re: My online telephone bill gets tagged as SPAM

I had enabled the personal whitelist feature for another mailing list but
it didn't seem to work. However I have just gotten my first message that
SpamAssassin allowed through because of the whitelist. So it appears the
whitelist config takes a few messages before SpamAssassin takes notice of
it. So I expect that after 3 to 6 months time I will not have any more
problems with my online bill notification as SpamAssassin becomes aware of
my whitelist config.

Actually I was going to post an error that personal whitelist doesn't
work. However after reading that the Locker Gnome site got SpamAssassin to
make a global fix I thought I would approach the problem from that angle.

P.S. SpamAssassin is doing a good job overall, I am getting about 5 SPAM
per real message and being able to quickly prune them out is great.

Comment 4 Craig Hughes 2002-03-26 16:22:35 UTC
You need to restart spamd after making changes to the global config, or it won't
read the changes.
