"AOL Communicator" plays havoc with AOL and HTML rules
Last modified: 2003-06-08 11:49:14 UTC
"AOL Communicator" (http://news.com.com/2100-1023-971064.html?tag=fd_top) is a new mail package AOL are beta-testing at the moment. I just received an email from a user of it which scored highly in 2.55, and it's even worse in 2.60CVS. I'll attach it in a second. Amongst the rules triggered: * 2.9 -- Content type is "TEXT/HTML" in all caps * 1.0 -- AOL can't send HTML in this format * 2.6 -- Forged mail pretending to be from AOL * 1.0 -- HTML-only message, but there is HTML tag * 0.1 -- Message only has text/html MIME parts * 1.0 -- AOL can't send HTML message only Someone might want to accept one of those "9,999,999 hours free" CDs and download it and take a look (AOL Keyword: beta :))

Turns out my fiancee still has an AOL account! I'll download AOL Communicator today and take a nosey.
