SpamAssassin confuses host and user parts in test
Last modified: 2003-07-21 01:44:22 UTC
It's common to use oidentd to produce random user names for identd lookup. By default, it generates a rather long user name. SpamAssassin misstates that the long user name is actually a long host name, and gives it an exceptionally high rating: Received: from pinkbits.internal (rW1hg3GU4MABJzquUXfXWYG1WuDRBEl2kmhQnxvrH33Y3rTVO60teGuB95cIJNJ370SuwLjDOkmPcDsyJtry7j7GnjZ64s8BqY3mtkyFVi d5tV1COt8WaFkNwHS09a9y6AixveAOMlRFHSQdLW7ukqHg7jfFHmDLxtIqYTCuEd8T5W5P2CJm0aR8I6NXsatnT9dzapsnQ0GWUJvWUCHUk ic2ozYgXPSzY5y@mcgroarty.net [64.81.147.195]) ... SPAM: SHORT_RECEIVED_LINE (4.3 points) 'Received:' contains huge hostname
That rule is already axed in the upcoming 2.60. (But I really wonder if such a user name has any use in the Received header expect from making it extraorbitantly long ;-)
