When I run spamassassin through procmail, I get the following output 
(some of the time):

procmail: Program failure (70) of "spamassassin"
procmail: Rescue of unfiltered data succeeded

looks like a buggy Net::DNS to me.

probably Net::DNS related.  so closing as wfm.
