Description Ugo Bellavance 2006-10-20 07:21:47 UTC
Hi,

A very large ISP in Canada, Videotron, hits this rule with the RDNS of their
new offering: Static IP addresses on cable modem.

RDNS:
Dynamic:

modemcable002.152-81-70.mc.videotron.ca.

Static:

modemcable014.58-70-69.static.videotron.ca

This should be fixed, as many Videotron clients purchase a static IP address to
have their own mail server. This service also comes with all ports open
(dynamic has port 25 blocked in/out), so they are almost telling their clients
to deliver directly and not use a smarthost.

I know those who send e-mails should set their RDNS correctly, but we all know
that it is not done in most cases. Also, a bad RDNS is managed by others rules
right?

I understand that it hits HELO_DYNAMIC_DHCP because it has "cable" in it, but I
don't understand why it hits HELO_DYNAMIC_IPADDR (I'm not a regex guru).
