Bug 48342

Summary: Long names in Windows 7 64Bit causes conf file syntax errors
Product: Apache httpd-2 Reporter: Tamalero <tamalero>
Component: Win32 MSI InstallerAssignee: Apache HTTPD Bugs Mailing List <bugs>
Status: RESOLVED DUPLICATE
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Version: 2.2.14
Target Milestone: ---
Hardware: PC
OS: Windows Vista

Description Tamalero 2009-12-06 23:11:51 UTC
When installing Apache 2.2.14 on its default options & directory ( installing on C:\Program Files (x86)\Apache Software Foundation\Apache 2.2\ )
creates a problem that will report errors in conf file.
Error type: Syntax Error
usually in the first parts ( domain, admin email )
no modification of the conf file will make the file work until you've changed the default installation directory.

To fix the problem:

changing the directory to a shorter filename with no spaces:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Apache\Apache2.2
makes the problem away and conf file will then report NO ERRORS.

This report is a dup of one of two errors. The spaces do not cause a problem.

The ()'s are a syntax error in the context of some directives (shm mutex for
example), while international characters also cause problems (need to be
converted to utf-8, a missing feature in the installer/conf rewriter).

Marking invalid as both bugs are already open.
