You can see a garbled Japanese subject of an email posted by Maho NAKATA to ooo-general-ja/AT/incubator.apache.org.

The subject thing is a known issue.

If you click the garbled subject, "Apache OpenOffice.org =?iso-2022-jp?B?GyRCRnxLXDhsJWYhPCU2ITw4fiQxJWEbKEI=?= =?iso-2022-jp?B?GyRCITwlaiVzJTAlaiU5JUgkSyREJCQkRhsoQg==?= ", you can see body of the email.

You can see Japanese texts are garbled.

If you change the browser's assumed encoding to ISO-2022-JP, small parts of the Japanese texts in the body look right but other parts are still garbled.

I tried "Unnamed text/plain" and "View raw message".

And I manually changed the browser's assumed encoding to ISO-2022-JP.
Then all Japanese texts are readable.

mod_mbox does not implement translation; although obviously it must.

At some point everything except for ascii/text-plain needs to be translated to utf-8 for legibility.

I posted another mail[1] to the list.

This mail's title is garbled but its body is not garbled on the archive.

Why?

Will this be a hint to solve the question?

We, Japanese users, contributors and other volunteers, would like to use our native language list and to start discussion about localization and translation as soon as possible.

The ooo-general-ja mails work now. But it seems

and other messages in the same thread still have a problem with the body. Can you check the raw mails from that thread and verify if those are properly formatted?
