This seems to be a very special setup as you are calling JMeter code from within your Java code. JMeter test plans edited with newer JMeter versions may not work on older versions. We try to keep the test plans compatible, but it can happen to not work. So if you are running the tests with older versions, you should test them on older stand alone versions and make sure, they are running without problems. To the hidden problem on why you can't use a newer release with your code. If it is because of BOM problems. There seems to be a bug already opened and it would be great, if you would comment on that bug, to get it fixed. If it is another problem, so it might be a good idea to try to tell us about it :) And last, JMeter sets up its own classpath (at least in the standalone version), so it might be, that you have duplicate classes on your classpath (which would result in strange exceptions, I assume).
