Description ansoni 2012-09-12 19:30:30 UTC
When generating reports for JMeter, it is often useful to have a log of what JMeter Version was used when trying to understand why results may have changed.

The known way to obtain the version is to use a BSF Sampler and do JMeterUtils.getJMeterVersion(). This is a rather large amount of work for what is a fairly straight forward need.

A _version function or version property would be very nice.

Note that the JMeter version is written to the jmeter.log file, along with the Java versions.

Indeed, but the Java Version Information is at least a System Property which begs the question why the JMeter Properties don't include the JMeter Version:-)

It would certainly be possible to preset a JMeter property with the version.

This could then be retrieved using the __P() function, which would save creating a new function.
