This is something that would be useful to have if you're working with the API.

I specifically found need for it when working with the ProxyControl API because deliverSampler works with JMeterTreeNodes.  So to output usable JMX with SaveService, I had to write code that traverses a JMeterTreeModel and builds a ListedHashTree.  (It didn't end up being especially long, but it was tricky to debug.)

I'd love to!  If my proxy daemon ever gets through legal, I'll even be able to contribute the bulk of what's needed for this (I think), though I haven't integrated it with SaveService at all.

We're building up for public release of a new product very soon, so hopefully I'll be able to make headway on releasing code after that.

But if someone gets to this before then, that's good too.
