I started an application and saw logs:

Actual result: It is the stacktrace.
Expected Result: I want see a reason of the exception.
For example, "Library C:\...\lib\spring-context-4.3.17.RELEASE.jar is damaged. Can not read the class CCCC."
Therefore I can understand, I should remove the library from maven local repository and rebuild an application.

In sources I found the AbstractArchiveResource. https://github.com/apache/tomcat/blob/trunk/java/org/apache/catalina/webresources/AbstractArchiveResource.java
I think, we can improve the line 204 and throw an exception with the reason.
I attached a damaged library. The class name is org/springframework/scheduling/config/TaskExecutorFactoryBean.class.

Best Regards, Sergey.

try to read the org/springframework/scheduling/config/TaskExecutorFactoryBean.class
Comment 2 Mark Thomas 2019-01-21 16:57:40 UTC
The general approach in that part of the code base is to log the original exception at debug level and throw a CNFE that names the class with the problem.

I have fixed this issue using the standard approach.

Fixed in:
- trunk for 9.0.15 onwards
- 8.5.x for 8.5.38 onwards

Note that 7.0.x was not affected.
