Please backport the following two commits into the 2.4.x branch: https://github.com/apache/httpd/commit/57748d60a5e58598b8f66feaa7760ebed9a02dbf https://github.com/apache/httpd/commit/594b57e89725faaeaf9a4c485637c2a26aa0395b httpd 2.4.x has supported SHA-2 based crypt() hashes for many years now, but sadly that support still doesn't extend to the htpasswd tool, forcing people to do all sorts of crazy fiddling when trying to use those hash algorithms.
