Consider the selection of a URL in IE's Address Bar. A click is heard. The presence of sound here is a nice feature and would be an added-value feature of the NetBeans IDE.

Therefor, it would be desirable to have sound added to the NetBeans IDE for common combo button selections, and alike. Also having the option to globablly turn on or off all sounds would be desirable as well, but is not necessary as I think this is an uncommon feature.

Analyis would be needed to be done to determine where sounds can be added (startup splash screen, appropriate combo boxes, exit, etc.)

Thanks.

Interesting suggestion. Overdoing this could cause much harm, but very decent sounds could be helpful indicators in some situations.

Assigning this one to myself to investigate more when time allows (certainly out of scope for .next)

Note that we're already using sound in editor search to indicate that text has not been found.

Consider adding a Tools | Options, Sounds panel.

This would allow the user to enable/disable sounds against different features as well as apply there own. Ideally, allow for the creation of sound profiles... all kind of fun ones can then be created by users to be shared.

Use case:

Check out the Xcode->Preferences... (Behaviors) window within the Xcode IDE. You'll see how they associates sounds to different actions... pretty cool.
