This is a high-level feature request for the new implementation of the projects module. It is filed here to track dependencies of other modules on the 
infrastructure provided by projects and to track the tasks needed to implement this feature.

To name few basic areas that new projects implementation will cover:
(more complete description of UI and design is at http://projects.netbeans.org)
- the way projects apear in the IDE (workplace tab, project groups, multiple projects open in the IDE)
- extensibility of projects to better support other languages then Java
- settings enhancements (assigning settings to groups of data objects, managing configurations, etc.)

These issues are planned as Sun's "must have" contribution to NetBeans 4.0 and
are considered to be "high level" issues. That is why changing the type to
FEATURE and priority to P1.

the current work on projects prototype has been stopped. Leaving still
open since it is valid feature request.
