i would to be able to search for file under a given folder, "find in file" op, also I would like to be able to search in, "all open files" in the IDE which are not necessary part of the project

Have you tried to call "Find" from within "Favorites" view (Ctrl+3)? You can add desired directory by right-click in that view and perform a search from there.

thanks peter, this is new to me to file search using favorite folder, not the best place to *hide* general functionality for find in file. would still like to see a better search dialog box. i still can't search all open files, if I drag and drop a bunch of files from a folder using a file-manager and then want to search I don't see a way to do this?
