At the time of NB 7.2 mouse wheel is used (to my knowledge) for two purposes only:
* simple scrolling in editor
* Alt-MouseWheel to change editor font size

It appears that mouse wheel can be used for more useful purposes, for which I am going to file separate issues referenced from here.
