We need the "folder" word in there to discourage people from looking for a project *file*. So make it "Choose Project Folder" or "Select Project Folder". Just not "Open" - too ambiguous with respect to opening a folder in the normal sense. Or change the project icon to not look so much like a folder (it could still look like a folder, just shouldn't look like a filesystem folder) and you'll have more freedom to change the wording. "Open project folder" doesn't work. Jano, opinion? Jano has to decide. Either close it or let me know about the final state. I need to see this in a usability study. I incline towards showing a special icon (completely unrelated to a folder) and name the button "Open Project". This would make it harder for people having nested projects, but might work for others. As I said, I need to see this in a test. I'm using 4.0 RC1. There's a different icon for project folders now, and files are grayed out and aren't selectable. I vote for "Open Project". The combination of the new icon and the obvious inability to choose a file makes "...Folder" unneccesary. I'd also say eliminate the "File Format" drop down as with there being only one available format, "Project Folder", it only serves to add confusion. In fact, at least on Mac I'm seeing that initially it is blank. If I click it I can choose the sole option, "Project Folder". Once I've chosen "Project Folder" I can not choose [blank] again. This bug makes it even more clutter-some. I'll file this as a seperate issue. Cf. issue #52059 re. format drop-down on Macs. This issue was fixed with the new Open Project dialog. |
