Description jrojcek 2007-06-26 15:39:51 UTC
A participant cannot find how to set a run argument named "-console". He uses Help and searches for "argument" which points to too many results but the
right one doesn't seem to be at the top. Then he searches for "argument run" which interestingly shows even more results, but the right one is at the top.

I'm not sure how to improve discoverability of run arguments. Our approach is simply different from other IDEs.

Just a side note: The help search should *reduce* the number of results if the user types more search words.

We are not in control over how help search works. Could be filed as a bug on I suppose.

Reassigning for evaluation. Are we able to influence how searching in Help is done?
Comment 3 Patrick Keegan 2008-10-14 14:42:18 UTC
theoretically we could plug a different search engine in to JavaHelp, e.g. Lucene. I have heard this is possible and
don't think it would be too much work, but I do not know the details

Still an evaluation of how search works in Javahelp is needed. Reassigning to engineering, as this question is not related to documentation per se.
