I am using Fedora 8
The SDK is java-1.7.0-icedtea
The netbean version is 6.0RC1
Today when I runned the netbeans I was able to create a new project but after closing all opened projects and restarting
the netbeans I was not able to create a new project and all submenus in all menus where disabled.

Comment 4 Marian Mirilovic 2007-11-19 08:36:02 UTC
could you please generate thread-dump :
at the time the IDE is frozen and attach the log into this issue. Thanks in advance.
Comment 5 Milan Kubec 2007-11-19 11:58:11 UTC
Lowering priority to standard P3 because java-1.7.0-icedtea is not officially supported java platform for NetBeans IDE.
Comment 6 rezaalavi 2007-11-20 08:32:18 UTC
I changed the sdk to 1.6u3 and the problem is gone for now.
do you need me to change back to icetea and provide the dump?
Comment 7 Milan Kubec 2007-11-20 08:38:44 UTC
The dump might be useful, but IcedTea will not be supported anyway. I recommend to stick with 1.6u3.
Comment 8 Milan Kubec 2007-11-20 13:54:38 UTC
Well, JDK_1.7 kw is not correct, it's unsupported JVM.
Comment 9 tonybeckham 2007-11-27 19:26:34 UTC
System Info:
Product Version: NetBeans IDE 6.0 (Build 200711261600)
Java: 1.7.0-ea; Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM 12.0-b01
System: Linux version 2.6.22-14-generic running on i386; UTF-8; en_US (nb)

Using JDK7 on Ubuntu the create new project dialog hangs the IDE. Killing the IDE and restarting is the only solution.
The project was created so after restarting the IDE it can be opened. I got a thread dump when this happens (see

Comment 11 tonybeckham 2007-11-27 20:12:53 UTC
Also creating any new file has the same behavior.
Comment 12 Milan Kubec 2007-11-28 09:00:21 UTC
The thread dump you provided doesn't show any deadlock, please try to create more thread dumps during the hang. Thanks.
Comment 13 Jaroslav Pospisil 2007-11-29 10:59:31 UTC
I've the same problems on my Ubuntu 7.10 everytime I create new project or file. There's only one exception and it's
Web Service, so far - when I created JAX-WS web service in web application, it proceed O.K.
Comment 14 Milan Kubec 2007-11-29 11:11:49 UTC

Comment 15 Jaroslav Pospisil 2007-11-29 13:45:13 UTC
This issue seems to be valid also for OpenJDK(1.7.0-ea).
Comment 16 mslama 2007-11-30 07:37:22 UTC
This problem is JDK bug with focus (never ending loop when requesting focus). Issue filed against JDK is (IcedTea and in future OpenJDK will be distributed as
default JDK for Linux distribution so it should be supported.)
Comment 17 Tomas Danek 2008-01-08 16:53:53 UTC
I've reproduced in openjdk-6-b03 with 6.0.1 (Build 200801080000) on KUbuntu:
1. /netbeans --jdkhome /space/openjdk-6-b03-linux/ --userdir /tmp/ud2
2. new project|java app
3. finish, wizard is not finished

do you want another thread dump?
Comment 18 Milan Kubec 2008-01-09 14:06:40 UTC
