Currently, if no activity is set in the stream, a checkout fails with the message that no activity is set in the view. It would be a significant improvement to show the activities that are available to be set on the view (e.g. open state, assigned to the current user) and allow the user to select one to check out the file under that activity.
how essential is this for you to be able to use the clearcase plugin? does it mean you aren't able to checkout at all, or in some specific cases? i'm afraid we won't be able to deliver this in 6.1
I would admit that this is non-essential (that's why I marked it as an enhancement), going through the regular ClearCase Explorer and manually (outside of the IDE) setting the current activity in the view allows me to check out. So, from that perspective, it is non-essential. At the same time, it seems like a fairly basic use case, and would definitely be nice to have. Btw, I might be interested in poking around the source code to maybe add a feature or two, where exactly in the netbeans source tree is the ClearCase plugin code located ? I have a working version of the CC plugin that is based on Generic VCS, so I've looked at that source code and I might be able to contribute something on this version..
