Description mccomber 2008-09-18 14:25:18 UTC
A web development ide without WebDAV is very limiting. Web developers are often not in control of the publishing method
and are locked into FTP or WebDAV. In that sense from a PHP developers stand point, Netbeans 6.5 is limiting its
potential user base and this will slow adoption. Choice is good!

FTP is implemented, SFTP is planned for the next version.

I need to use webdav on an ongoing project and this is the only way offered to connect. I would like to see webdav
support added.

Or at lease give the ability to link folders into the netbeans project. This way it would be possible to establish a
webdv connection via the OS native webdav tools, or 3rd party tools and link it into to NB project. Now it is not
possible, because the NB path can't be relativized.

I agree this would be VERY useful to have webdav support as HTTP is much easier to proxy behind firewalls than FTP or SFTP. Also webdav can be used with name-based virtual hosting and NOT require local system accounts like FTP or SFTP do. This is the reason I setup my hosting site to use webdav only for all site file management.
