well, those are standard buttons in a standard toolbar. what should it look like then?
Comment 4 Tomas Danek 2009-09-30 15:29:21 UTC
I'd suggest to consult with someone from HIE.

From my point of view, I'd suggest:
- using some darker background under this toolbar
- change the look of "toggled" button (if possible), it does not look like toggled at all:)

hie guys, pls consult with me:)
Comment 6 Ondrej Langr 2009-10-08 13:56:05 UTC
Toolbar background color is standard, used across netbeans and I do not see any problems there.

However, I do see 2 issues with this:

1) no separation of toolbar and main area
2) width of buttons varies (which looks as they are not aligned vertically)

See the attachment if it solves the issue for you.

suggested fix - visual appearance
Comment 8 Stanislav Aubrecht 2009-10-08 14:07:57 UTC
the separator is not a problem.
however i can't make the 'filter' button narrower, so to align toolbar buttons vertically i need to make all other
buttons wider. is that ok with HIE?
Comment 9 Ondrej Langr 2009-10-09 14:55:18 UTC
No, that actually IMO looks worse then what we currently have. But can we detach the arrow from the toggle button and
place it next to it? (see attachment). That's better than current solution as well as having all toggle buttons wide.

detaching the dropdown arrow from the toggle button
Comment 11 Stanislav Aubrecht 2009-10-09 16:34:24 UTC
no, the arrow and separator are part of the icon. i can't move the arrow outside the button
perhaps we can make the toolbar horizontal and merge it with tasklist's status bar?
Comment 12 Ondrej Langr 2010-01-20 08:46:49 UTC
Horizontal toolbar would take (in this area) more precious vertical screen estate.

I must admit I'm out of ideas here.

Last two solutions crossing my mind are we could make the dropdown arrow part of the filter image and open a contextual menu when the filter is clicked. This menu would then allow to turn the filter on/off as well as choose/modify any of the presets. This is a non-standard solution and far from perfect, but will look better than this one.

Standa is this doable?
