it happens quite often that many values are repeteadly typed in different fields in different issues or queries.

1.) a user name (address) might be typed on several places as a qa-contact, in cc, in the assigned to field, or in the query dialog. 
2.) a status whiteboard or a keyword value might be used with i higher frequency then the others
...

a dropdown list with recently used values matching the already typed user input could be of help.

provide also a list of available values as given by the reposiory - e.g. milestones, keywords, etc.
