Description paolosca 2010-04-13 11:30:58 UTC
I noticed that after installation/update the plugin installer/updater cleans up the "update" directory deleting all the downloaded .nbm files.

It would be very convenient if there was an option to keep the downloaded .nbm files as a cache so I don't have to download everything again when I install a new build of Netbeans. Something like the apt cache on Debian.

It would be very handy for people like me using the development build as I upgrade it quite often (every 2-3 days). Because of limited bandwidth, I usually download the PHP version then add only the plugins I need.

It could be useful also for companies with lots of workstations as a mean of controlling the updates and save bandwidth. In this case it would also be useful to be able to specify the path of the cache so it can stored in a shared file server.

Alternatively, the ability to import settings and plugins from previous development versions would be great. Now after installation it imports plugins only from the 6.8 stable version but I have to downlod them again anyway because they are not updated.

Regards,

Paolo.
