Product Version = NetBeans IDE 7.0 (Build 201104080000)
Operating System = Windows XP version 5.1 running on x86
Java; VM; Vendor = 1.6.0_24
Runtime = Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM 19.1-b02

I tested the Tasks feature on Linux (Fedora, CentOs), OpenSolaris and Windows(Xp and 7) 
The IDE it's not displaying the task at all.

what are your filter settings for the tasklist? see the forth button from top in the tasklists toolbar. Might be that "Issues Only" is selected...

I don't have any filter, I already tried defining different filters and always got the same result.

just realized that it is a c/c++ you got there - the tasks lists todo scanner is plugged into the netbeans parsing/indexing infrastructure, which isn't activated by default in c++ apps. To get this working you have to set "Support indexing of non C++ files in projects" in main menu > options > c++ > project options. 

obviously, it isn't evident for users that the option has to be set and we should deal with it, but first we need to know if the suggested solution fixed your problem...

That did the trick. I think you should change that option name for something more easy to understand.

simple workaround exists, this probably isn't a p2 defect ...
