The debug panel has various Icons. The most common being a green diamond, sometimes it has a dark green interior. Sometimes it is floating in a little fish tank. These mean nothing to me :( I often wonder they are trying to tell me something important. "What? What are you telling me?", I ask of them. When I dream, they haunt the dark places. ...and I'd like an option to remove them.
I'm cc'ing Jano, who works on UI for NetBeans. Also this is not P2. I would say P4.
I only added it as P2 cos I thought I'd be a quick task to complete. It is one of those death by a 1,000 paper cuts type of bugs :) Keep up the fantastic work :)
If you mean icons inside the Variables window, they communicate variable type. As it is impossible to design self explanatory icons in this case, tooltips should state the variable type, or what the icon really mean. Otherwise users have no way to find out what the icons mean. The tooltip should look something like: "Local Variable: <existing tooltip content>" If you mean something else, please post a screenshot. Thanks!
Those are the icons I mean. There is already a type column adjacent to the variable name, so my vote is to optionally remove the icon.
It's not defect...changing type to enhancement.
