Problem is not reproducible in NetBeans 7.1. 1. open "NetBeans Dev 201203280401.app" 2. File > "New Project..." > Samples > Java > "Anagram Game" 3. Accept all "Name and Location" defaults 4. Select AnagramGame project 5. Profile > "Profile Project(AnagramGame)..." 6. Select CPU from "Profile AnagramGame" dialog 7. Select "Advanced (instrumented)" from "Analyze Performance" section in "Profile AnagramGame" dialog 8. Click "customize..." beside "Advanced (instrumented)" radio button to open "Edit Profiling Roots" dialog 9. Select AnagramGame and click "Advanced..." 10. Click OK 11. A "Progress..." dialog will come up that never goes away, leaving the IDE inaccessible.
