A good addition to Find Usages for big project families could be Find Usages (and may be navigation to definition) could go beyond Project scope to other [closed] projects in the family.
Ideally the scope is stored in a side [xml] file which can be easily shared or moved (assuming that relative location of projects is not changed)

Another enhancement of this feature would be to automatically provide such scope as "Dependent Projects"
