Description swpalmer 2012-06-20 13:57:10 UTC
Product Version = NetBeans IDE Dev (Build 201206180001)
Operating System = Windows 7 version 6.1 running on x86
Java; VM; Vendor = 1.7.0_04
Runtime = Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM 23.0-b21

Not sure what triggers it, maybe remote desktop access is involved, but when I came back to NB since leaving work yesterday the Projects window won't scroll and doesn't show scrollbars when it should.

my wild guess is that it's possibly related to the jvm used. Have you recently upgraded to 1.7?
Comment 4 swpalmer 2012-06-22 13:25:01 UTC
Yes, the "Files" view has the same behaviour.
I had the "Services" view minimized, when I maximized (tool tip on the button still says "pin" by the way) it, it had scrollbars.
I tried minimizing and maximizing the Project and File views but they remained without scrollbars, so I assume the services view doesn't have the issue.
Comment 5 swpalmer 2012-06-22 13:25:48 UTC
I have been using Java 7 since it was available. This issue may be Java 7 specific as I have seen it months ago as well.
Comment 6 Milos Kleint 2012-09-10 13:11:56 UTC
reassigning to platform/explorer.

both projects and files tab are just TopComponents with BeanTreeView in it, no tricks with sizes or any other swing properties.

Another clearly UI related issue, thanks in advance for help, Stando.
Comment 9 Yaytay 2013-03-21 09:59:53 UTC
Just a "me too", with v7.3 (and many previous versions) on Windows 7.

I'll be happy to supply more information if that would help get the issue fixed.

Just a - same here.
The issue occurs after I RDP into the box, then log in locally.
Even after restarting NetBeans the issue will occur again in the same session.
Windows 7 x64 SP1.. Java 7. Have seen this behavior in NB 7.0+. Currently using 7.3.

I would like to vote an increase in priority on this since this also occurs randomly in any session - even after the RDP client is disconnected.
Will sometimes run for hours without the scrollbars being lost, sometimes only a few minutes.

steps to reproduce mentioned in #242944:
Steps to reproduce:

1) Open a project group that has a (quite) large Java Web App. Expand nodes until vertical scroll bar appears.
2) Change to another project group with small project (so the vertical scroll bar do not appear).
3) Change back to Java Web App project group: the nodes are expanded, but the vertical scroll bar is missing.

--- however even though i followed these i was not able to reproduce, some issue with preferred sizes, but i have no idea what it could be.

The problem is reproducible on the 2 monitor WIN7 environment.
Some times scrollbars don't appear after unlocking the OS.
Comment 15 manusoftar 2018-04-04 13:15:32 UTC
This bugs still exists in version 8.2 of NB when using project groups
