In light of http://netbeans.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=188011, I would appreciate having a way to turn off the full file scanning in the NetBeans Preferences dialog.

+1 for this.

I would appreciate a setting in the GUI. 

In addition I would like to suggest:

- A general Setting "Disable deep status refresh", which affects all VCS
- A setting for each VCS to enable/disable deep status refresh for a single vcs, if it is needed for the others
