Product Version = NetBeans IDE 8.0 (Build 201403101706) Operating System = Linux version 3.13.0-30-generic running on amd64 Java; VM; Vendor = 1.7.0_55 Runtime = OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM 24.51-b03 After you create a new file the focus should be on that new file so that you are ready to start typing. Instead what happens is that after the file creation dialog closes netbeans often does not have the focus, you must first click on netbeans to set the focus. it is a trivial bug, but when you are creating lots of new documents, after awhile it becomes quite annoying. The interesting thing about this bug is that it depends on the specific category of document that you create. For some documents, the focus is correct, but for others the focus is missing. Using any of ctrl-n | File > New File | right-click the file tree and click on New > (some file) a dialog will now appear, choose the category and type of file and give it a name click finish now start typing result: sometimes it actually works, but often you can't type due to the lost focus after the New File dialog closes When I create a new file of category 'Other' or category 'C' or category 'XML' then netbeans does not have the focus afterward, But if I create a file using category 'Html' then netbeans DOES have the focus. Interestingly, there is an 'Html' category and an 'Other' category, both categories have entries for '.html' and '.css' etc. If I create any file using the 'Html' category, then netbeans has the focus, and if I create any file from the 'Other' category then netbeans does NOT have the focus, even if what I create is the same type of file. For instance it is possible to select '.html' or '.css' from the 'Other' category, but if you do, they won't have focus. But if you select that same exact file type from the 'Html' category then they do have focus after creation.
