I started using the sync - when I change tab, or browse through types, the Project View always shows where the file is. That's neat. However, this feature is a bit annoying if I close a tab. Usually, I want to work with other files in the same package/directory. However closing a tab jumps to semi-random (whatever is next to it) tab, and the Project View scrolls there. It would be one of those ergonomic details which make NetBeans a pleasure to use if in this specific case, the project view sync would wait for the first key stroke or a mouse click into the editor window. That would give the users a chance to click into the Project View to continue working in "current" package. Thanks for considering.
This old bug may not be relevant anymore. If you can still reproduce it in 8.2 development builds please reopen this issue. Thanks for your cooperation, NetBeans IDE 8.2 Release Boss
