I am on Scientific Linux, 64 bit, JDK 7, Netbeans 8.0.1

When I click on the Menu buttons (File, Edit, View, Navigate etc) the menu expands upwards, instead of dropping down.

To be more precise I have JDK 1.7.0_65

OpenJDK Runtime Environment (rhel-2.5.1.2.el6_5-x86-64)

I should also point out, after I installed JDK 7 I had a problem installing (the X-display environment variable). As part of this solution I installed JDK6 but never got round to modifying the version being used. So I currently have JDK6 and 7 on my system, but 7 is the one being used.

Have uninstalled JDK 1.6 and 1.7, re-installed netbeans. Still get the problem.

Another point, during the original Netbeans installation I received this error message:

Can't connect to X11 window server using 'local_host:0.0' as the value of the DISPLAY variable. 

To fix this I set the DISPLAY variable to Display=:0 and this allowed the installation to continue.

This old bug may not be relevant anymore. If you can still reproduce it in 8.2 development builds please reopen this issue.

This is a Swing issue on Scientific Linux (and other Linuxes) having quad monitors setup. In this case ALL Swing applications expand menus upwards.
