"Mark Occurrences Of Symbol Under Caret" is a very helpful programming aid. However, like most aids, a user may not want it on all the time. 

When writing code, "Mark Occurrences" along with language syntax highlighting can be a little too much.  However when sitting back and reviewing, it would be helpful to toggle Mark Occurrences on.

I first disabled "Keep Marks" and tried it for a while. I finally disabled "Mark Occurrences Of Symbol Under Caret". 

The feature could be much more helpful if there was a "Mark Occurrences" toggle and/or toolbar button for all languages. Currently the only access is a menu option, and not for all languages.
