When editing the project property "packaging" from the properties window, whatever is typed in gets directly written to the POM, without even basic verification. This means that if I type something like jab the pom gets corrupted and I can no longer use the properties window until I manually fix it. A nice enhancement to the window would be some kind of verification that at least warns you that what you are entering will break something, it should still be possible to enter anything for special packaging cases, but at least giving a warning would reduce expensive typos, since when the OK button is pressed with a wrong packaging option the properties window will no longer work.
