Description mjr_1974 2016-07-31 17:08:03 UTC
Product Version = NetBeans IDE 8.1 (Build 201510222201)
Operating System = Linux version 4.4.14-040414-generic running on amd64
Java; VM; Vendor = 1.8.0_101
Runtime = Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM 25.101-b13

Reproducibility: Happens every time

STEPS:
  Start Netbeans 8.1 on linux (even fresh installation)

ACTUAL:
  Error notification (Priority HIGH) is shown saying: "Failed to use a temporary directory notification at startup"

EXPECTED:
  No errors notifications on startup

Setting -J-Dcnd.tmpbase config option as suggested by error message in netbeans.conf does not solve the issue, regardless of directory used.
I'm wondering if this is the cause of some random crashes I am experiencing.

It seems to be related to having the /tmp folder mounted as a tempfs (Ram)
