Description Petr Jiricka 2004-07-12 18:42:09 UTC
See the nbusers post in 'URL'. Here is an excerpt:

"To get going in Netbeans I only have to do the
1. Start Netbeans.
2. Mount all 3rd-party jars our project uses.
3. Mount src/java
4. Open a file I'm interested in editing/compiling.
5. Edit file
6. Hit Compile

So there are only about 4 + (numberOfMounts * x)
mouse clicks to get
started - where 'x' are the number of clicks to
mount a filesystem
(sorry for counting double-clicks as a single
click :-)

With NB 4.0, there are a bunch of clicks - just to
get the project
defined. Then there are more clicks & typing to
tell NB to leave the
.class files in the same directory as the src."

Possible solutions or improvements could be:

1) Provide easier access to project customizer, e.g. place an icon to
the toolbar.

2) Provide easier access to library management, e.g. have a 'Manage
Libraries' menu item in the project's popup menu that would open the
project customizer in the libraries category.

3) In the wizard that creates project existing sources, offer
inclusion of libraries into project that are somehow collocated with
the selected sources folder.

4) Double-clicking on a project in the project creation wizard should
behave as if 'Next' was pressed in the wizard.

Thoughts? Ideas?

All sound reasonable; will leave to Jano to think about them. This
issue should ultimately be closed and refiled as separate, specific items.
Comment 3 Jesse Glick 2004-08-23 23:01:33 UTC
#1 is IMHO covered by issue #46092.
Comment 4 Jesse Glick 2004-09-28 17:21:15 UTC
#2 covered by issue #49641.

#3 and #4 should be filed separately and then this issue closed. For
the future please file more specific issues.
Comment 5 jrojcek 2005-02-28 17:13:16 UTC
I've filed #4 as issue #55627.

Petr, please file #3 if you think it should be implemented.

Other issues are filed individually. I am closing as FIXED, as I am not sure what is more
