Description Antonin Nebuzelsky 2004-10-06 10:36:28 UTC
This is an umbrella issue covering the startup
regression we currently have with trunk. Vanilla
start regresses ~5-10%, complex start with ten
opened files regresses ~30%.

Other issues will be filed and marked as blocking
for this umbrella as the startup is analysed and
particular problems isolated.
Comment 1 Antonin Nebuzelsky 2004-10-27 10:39:49 UTC
Decreasing to P2 as the startup times for the various startup
scenarious are now signigicantly improved, as a result of the fixes of
bugs listed above.

The results of today's automatic tests (trunk versus NB 3.6):

Startup - 1st vanilla start
RH9 n/a
JDS2 -0.7%
Sol9 -12.6%
W2K -0.2%
WXP -0.3%

Startup - subsequent vanilla starts
RH9 n/a
JDS2 +9.3%
Sol9 -3.3%
W2K +13.4%
WXP +13.0%

Startup - complex start with 10 opened files in editor
RH9 +9.6%
JDS2 +18.0%
Sol9 -10.3%
W2K +7.7%
WXP +5.5%

The subsequent vanilla start regression on Linux and Windows and the
complex start regression on JDS2 are still under investigation.
Comment 2 Antonin Nebuzelsky 2004-11-08 10:38:56 UTC
The most important parts of the regression fixed.
No more ideas for a significant improvement for NB40.
Closing as fixed.
