Description ulfzibis 2005-07-15 09:39:49 UTC
Messagebox "Error: Unable to connect the Update Center" appears on "Next" in
Update Center Wizzard, when "NetBeans Update Center Beta" is selected and
"NetBeans Update Center" is unselected.
Comment 1 Pavel Rehak 2005-07-18 13:00:09 UTC
Are you sure that you are really using NB4.2?
Because for NB 4.2 we have active only "Development Update Center".
There shouldn't be visible "NetBeans Update Center Beta" in Update Center Wizard at all.
Comment 2 ulfzibis 2005-07-18 23:02:23 UTC
In NetBeans IDE 200506211800 Update Center Wizard I have:
- NetBeans Update Center
- NetBeans Update Center Beta
- Third-party Update Center

Because of Issue 60750 I have copied .netbeans\4.1\config to .netbeans\dev\config

In install dir I find: C:\Program Files\Java\netbeans-4.2dev\nb4.1
Comment 3 Pavel Rehak 2005-07-19 12:20:31 UTC
I don't think this is valid scenario to copy settings from 4.1 to dev,
but reassigning to Autoupdate module for evaluation anyway.

- NetBeans Update Center Beta
- Third-party Update Center
are not enabled for nb4.2 yet, so it can't connect there.
Comment 4 Jiri Rechtacek 2005-07-19 13:44:35 UTC
It's not supported to links NB4.1 Update Centers from Dev builds, can be danger
to mix updates from NB4.1 base and NB4.2. The internal version of Autoupdate
client avoids this, it's increased for each release (beta, ea etc. included).
It's the reason why you cannot use these Update Centers.
If do you insist to use them then you can replace {$netbeans.autoupdate.version}
by 1.10 in corresponding URLs by your risk.
Closed as INVALID.
Comment 5 ulfzibis 2005-07-19 19:54:11 UTC
So how can I have a valid NetBeans IDE 4.2 dev QBuild and import my settings of
NB 4.1 if Issue 60750 is not resolved ?

I can't understand, why you close this issue, because IMHO I did nothing
iregular. See comment of jtulach in Issue 51033:
"You can either copy the settings by hand or directly point the IDE to your
userdir of choice by using --userdir parameter."

Comment 6 Jiri Rechtacek 2005-07-20 11:39:36 UTC
The list of Update Centers is not a subject of import settings for reasons of
avoid to mix updates from NB4.1 base and NB4.2
Comment 7 ulfzibis 2005-07-20 14:24:10 UTC
Where can I find {$netbeans.autoupdate.version}, to control if it's correct ?

I never changed this value, so how can it be, that I have the wrong Update
Centers in the list of the Update Center Wizard ?
Comment 8 ulfzibis 2005-07-20 14:28:19 UTC
Thanks for resolving Issue 60750.

I will try it if _this_ Issue is resolved, or next QBuild comes up.
Comment 9 Jiri Rechtacek 2005-07-24 12:49:19 UTC
Update Centers are not subject of import settings among versions, for reasons
what has been explained above.
Btw: The value of {$netbeans.autoupdate.version} is declared in class

Not experienced since long time.
