Description _ pcw 2005-11-03 19:13:16 UTC
Various modules in NetBeans use JFileChoosers to allow the user to locate a file
or directory for some reason. In most cases, the last directory browsed to for
that particular action (e.g. Open Project) should be persisted, even across IDE
sessions for a better user experience. In some cases, such directories should
be shared (e.g. Open File... and the web service wizard WSDL finder probably
would share the last browsed directory, but I don't think either would want to
share with Open Project).

It would be helpful if NetBeans provided a common API to handle the persistence
and selection of such directories (and allowed modules to add new types.)

Alternatively I suppose this could be partly solved with a contrib module that
simply demonstrated how to persist and restore a directory used for such
purpose, but that doesn't address sharing "last used directories" of similar
types across mutually independent modules.
