Description adamw 2006-03-27 05:41:03 UTC
Mustang build 1.6.0-beta2-b77 (i586 and AMD64 for Linux) disables double click
word selection with Netbeans 5.0 build 200601251500. Double click a word and
nothing happens.

Workaround: I have reverted to the b75 builds. I have not downloaded/tested the
b76 builds.
Comment 1 adamw 2006-04-08 08:27:34 UTC
Regression reconfirmed with AMD64 Linux:
java version "1.6.0-beta2"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0-beta2-b79)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 1.6.0-beta2-b79, mixed mode)

I have also submitted a bug report to Sun via
<http://bugs.sun.com/services/bugreport/submit_start.do> upon the Mustang builds
in question.

Can you attach bug number you've submitted against JDK, please?

synopsis: Mustang 1.6.0-beta2-b77+ disables double click word selection with
Netbeans 5.0
description: FULL PRODUCT VERSION :
java version "1.6.0-beta2"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0-beta2-b79)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 1.6.0-beta2-b79, mixed mode)

ADDITIONAL OS VERSION INFORMATION :
2.6.12.2 Linux kernel for Debian AMD64

A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM :
  From <http://www.netbeans.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=74008>:

Mustang build 1.6.0-beta2-b77 (i586 and AMD64 for Linux) disables double click
word selection with Netbeans 5.0 build 200601251500. Double click a word and
the word is not selected.

Lack of double click word selection reconfirmed with AMD64 b79 build.

REGRESSION. Last worked in version mustang

EXPECTED VERSUS ACTUAL BEHAVIOR :
EXPECTED -
Background of a word turns grey ("selected") after double-clicking upon a word.
ACTUAL -
Word remains unselected.

REPRODUCIBILITY :
This bug can be reproduced always.

CUSTOMER SUBMITTED WORKAROUND :
Revert to the b75 builds. I can confirm that the b77 and b79 builds disable
double click word selection. I have not downloaded/tested whether the b76 or b78
builds disable double click word selection.
Comment 4 adamw 2006-04-18 03:00:44 UTC
I have now confirmed that the regression first arises in the b77 builds (double
click word selection still works after installing the b76 build for AMD64). The
regression remains in the b80 build.
Comment 5 adamw 2006-04-21 07:41:01 UTC
I have also discovered that double-clicking upon a subdirectory within the Open
File... dialog box is disabled.

Comment 6 adamw 2006-04-24 02:02:35 UTC
I have confirmed this issue is resolved by the Mustang b81 builds for i586 and
AMD64 Linux.
