JTable column types (when editing a JTable model) is missing ImageIcon and 

Because the form editor using an anonymous, overriden DefaultTableModel class 
to customize column types, this is non-trivial to workaround.

I must manually copy-paste the generated code and hand modify it. If I make 
any changes to the TableModel, I have to manually synchronize the code.

(You might just consider changing the way you generate the table model.
