Hyperlink .opd file to show multi-line hyperlink bug none

Description raiten 2010-05-14 17:51:42 UTC
If you write a multi-line text and add a hyperlink, all return carriers are
removed and the linked text is displayed on one line.
It seems impress refuse to cut on multiple line a text which has an hyperlink
(valid in Ms Powerpoint; problem also appears when importing from Powerpoint 2003)

tested on Impress OOo 3.2.0/Windows and 3.1.1/Macos. It does not affect Writer.

As a result, you must add hyperlink to splitted text to avoid this issue. Or not
use hyperlinks.

Reproduced error with multi-line hyperlink. Tested on: Version OOo 3.2 and
Version DEV300m78 on following platforms (and had same issue with both):

Windows 7 x64bit
Windows XP Professional x32 bit

Tested hyperlink in Microsoft PowerPoint 2003 and had no issues with multi-line
link. Attempted to open saved .ppt file from PowerPoint and open in Impress, had
same issue as you mentioned.

Steps to reproduce error:
1. Create basic slide with text object
2. Paste long hyperlink (more than single line to display) into text window
3. Click away from box

Upon running Slide Show, hyperlink is presented as cut-off and not formatted to
box correctly.

Do you copy and paste the text from a browser? Do you insert it as a hyperlink
or just as text? Again: Please attach a document for testing . Thanks.

Hyperlink .opd file to show multi-line hyperlink bug
Comment 5 msacco 2010-05-28 22:15:14 UTC
(Michael Sacco - 5/28/2010)

I attached a .odp file containing what you asked. The problem exists for
anything that acts as a hyperlink.

The example file shows a long line of text that has a hyperlink to a random page
and it forces it on a single-line. Also, it shows an example of a hyperlink
pasted directly into the browser as text and shows that it too suffers the same bug.

Issue is reproducible
=====================
The failure is reproducible for Impress and the behaviour of Powerpoint also is
reproducible

System configuration:
===================================
OS: Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version 2002 SP3 (32 bit)

OOo version: OOo-dev 3.3.0 DEV300m78 (Build:9501)

Powerpoint version: Microsoft Office Standard 2007; Version 12.0.6425.1000

Steps used to reproduce
=======================
1. Open a new Impress presentation.
2. Select File -> New -> Presentation
3. In the Layouts panel on the right, click on 'Title Slide' template
3. In the text field that appears, click to add any text string that wraps to 2
or 3 lines.
4. Select Slide Show -> Slide Show. Text string is unaltered and maintains
multiple line wrapping.
5. Press Esc to come back to the edit mode
4. Highlight the string.
5. From the tool bar select Insert -> Hyperlink. Hyperlink dialog appears.
6. Select the radio button 'web'
7. Enter WWW.yahoo.com in the target field. Press 'Apply' and then 'Close'
buttons. Multiple line text string
   now unwraps to a single line and breaks out side of the slide.

Failure: Hyperlink added to a Multiple line text string makes the carriage
return characters disappear and
         link is forced to a single line.

Other tests done
================
1. A multiple line Hyper link directly pasted on an Impress slide - Crriage
return charcaters removed and
   shows the same behavior as the above test
2. Same test done in MS Powerpoint holds the multiple line format for the hyper
link
