Reassigned. Hi, (In reply to karasu from comment #0) >the absence of this functional feature is irritating given the availability of purely decorative features such as character engraving and embossing. + 1 Best regards It's interesting feature for Draw too, to create logo etc.. Thanks for considering its addition. Deborah Lee 07-June 2014 I was able to replicate the reported issue on a Macbook Air running Mac OS X 10.9.2 with Open Office version 4.1.0. - Upon opening Impress, the Text Properties toolbar is open and there are many options but highlighting background text is not present. - Upon opening Writer, the Text Properties toolbar is open and there are many options INCLUDING highlighting background text. Compared with Microsoft Office 2008: Powerpoint is also missing the feature. Word has this feature. There is a work-around however which is to insert a text box (same size as the text) and then the background colour of this can be set. It is unclear if the exclusion of this feature in Impress is intentional or not as many other decorative features are still available. *** This issue has been confirmed by popular vote. *** I also vote for adding an highlighting function in OOO Impress: I need it for classroom work, because changing text color is sometimes not possible (yellow, for example, cannot be read). The same issue is described in Issue 115755 (Unconfirmed, 2 votes), with the addition that Google docs Presentation supports highlighting : "Google docs Presentation application which lets you create PowerPoint presentations does offer a feature to highlight text on a slide. I have also confirmed that changing the position and size of the text maintains the highlight. If you download this file as a .ppt or .pptx and open it in Ingress or PowerPoint, then it loses the highlight formatting." ( Christopher Cole 2013-09-25 02:26:25 UTC) |
