Description tmhertz 2009-06-19 13:46:16 UTC
1) using a D-Link DNS 323 NAS
2) running Windows XP on a Dell T3400
3) *.ods and *.odt files ONLY ON THE NAS cannot be opened by Double Clicking
4) *.ods and *.odt files ON THE NAS CAN be opened via the File Menu

When I "double click" on *.ods and *.odt files stored on my NAS they will not
"automatically" open (in Open Office). Nothing (as near as I can tell) happens.
That is, Open Office does NOT start and these files do NOT open. This ONLY
applies to files on the NAS. When I copy these files to my Windows Desktop, I
can open them by double clicking without any trouble. Also, if I simply run
Open Office and, once running, use the File menu to Open a *.ods or *.odt file,
these files also open without a problem.

Open Office is the only app that is having this problem.

tmhertz,
do you access NAS by name, IP or you map drive letter?
If by name what is it?

I map the NAS as a Network Drive and the NAS DOES have a password that must be
entered the first time the Network Drive is accessed after the system is rebooted.
