wrong display of large integral numbers none

Description Regina Henschel 2009-07-05 18:00:48 UTC
Open the attached file and notice the cells B8 and B9.
The values 999999999999998 and 999999999999999 are displayed as
1000000000000000, but treated with their correct value as you can see in the
other columns.

When OOo supports 15 decimal digits, the values should be shown as
999999999999998 and 999999999999999. Larger values should be shown in scientific
notation to indicate, that they might have rounding errors and the user cannot
trust, that they are integral numbers. (Although there are internally still
integral numbers as the calculation in the column E shows.)

I checked with "Ooo 3.1.0 WIN XP multilingual version German UI activated
[OOO310m11 (Build 9399)]" and can confirm the reported effect with I checked
with "Ooo 3.1.0 WIN XP multilingual version German UI activated [OOO310m11
(Build 9399)]" and can confirm the reported effect with "largest integrals wrong
displayed.ods" and own documents. And I agree that it is worrying.
But I can't decide whether 1,00E+15 starting with "999999999999997" really is a
progress.

Confirming with 3.1 on WinXP - as described.
Related to 69749?

Not related to 69749, that issue is about decimal numbers, this is about
integral numbers.
