It seems that it depends somehow on your machine. I have a fairly slow VM and context menu opens up real fast without delay. I've tried with OOo 3.1.1 and dev300_55. There almost always is a relation between performance of a system and the performance of applications that run on it :-) My Windows Vista system runs on an Intel Core2 Duo T9300 CPU at 2.5 GHz. Enough to get a Windows performance rating of 5.1, which is pretty decent. So, no, it is not my slow system causing this. I could also observe this very behavior on Malte's machine. You haven't mentioned Vista. I know that there is this relation. :-; But I've not written that your system is slow. Just that there is something that causes this delay for what reason ever. Even on my Ultra 40 with Vista and a rating of 4.8, connected via a SunRay and a Solaris rdesktop I can't get a 2 second delay (or because of). So my conclusion is that this is not the default behavior of OOo. I have had the problem with my installation running on XP. Sometimes it took 5-6 seconds to show the context menu. This delay did not happen on a misspelled word. Then I have disabled all the unneeded dictionaries (5-6), the Wiki extension and now I have no delay when calling the context menu anymore. Maybe this problem is related to extensions. |
