the summary says it:
to have the ESC-key available to take back wrong entries in a field would be
useful (this related to the very field only, not the whole record)

Interesting idea. Not sure, though, whether it really should apply to the field
only. For instance, in a table control, when you press ESC, it UNDOes the
complete record ...

well, within the field only, I think that is enough- similar to the behavior of
ESC in cells of calc-sheets 
(or, if wishes can help: once for the field and twice for the record)
