Link to external data has two problems which are still outstanding and which
have not yet been resolved. 1. URL of external data source - text box does not
enable the "OK" button when text such as a URL or web link is entered directly
into the text box. The only way to do this is to select the Directory List box
button to the right of the text box and then to paste the text in there. When
this is done, the spreadsheet then points to the web page stored in the
"Temporary Internet Files" directory. This works until the computer is rebooted.
Then the spreadsheet keeps seeking to refresh the external URL data from the
computer files stored in "Temporary Internet Files" directory.

This ticket is a year old, but just to comment on it.. you're probably running
into the File Open/Save dialog handling issue in point 2; when using the Windows
native File Open/Save dialog, the Windows explorer shell will download the URL
you enter, save it to its cache, and pass that on to the application calling the
Open/Save dialog.

To get around this, go to the OpenOffice.org General Options, and switch to "Use
OpenOffice.org dialogs".

Insert - Link to External Data... OK button is disabled even after URL of external data source is entered.
