Adding FL to cc list. Actually there already is a way to have that dialog do things automatically and thus not show up at all. It is the check box named "Hyphenate without inquiry" under "Tools/Options - Language Settings - Writing Aids" in the lower list box. Obviously its kinda hard to find there. Ultimately however I believe that you also do not really want that dialog to do things automatically, since it would still insert soft-hyphens. I think people would prefer something like a toolbar button (e.g. next to the spell check button) that toggles automatic hyphenation in the same way as it happens from the "Format/Paragraph" dialog, because that way hyphenation works automatically even without inserting soft-hyphens. @tl: I don't know the technical difference between soft-hyphens and automatic hyphenation. I just saw some people loosing their patience with that dialog, because they got stuck there and kept on clicking on the "hyphenate"-button until they reached the last page of the document. :-) I am not joking. Your solution sounds very good indeed, but there should be a similar button like you describe it, in that dialog, too. Changing UI is a 'request for enhancement'. Changing owner accordingly. . As far as I see, this issue is indeed fixed in OpenOffice.org 3.3 Beta. The "Hyphenate all" button seems to work correctly. Any other opinion? The button itself works. If it does so by inserting soft hyphens or by setting the respective options in "Format/Paragraph" is implementation detail, thus I guess we can set this as duplicate now. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 108358 *** duplicate -> closing. |
